Greens Up in the Air
Picture this: an uber cool modern venue decked out in rich dark woods, mid-century modern details, and a gorgeous rooftop with views of the Anacostia River. Are you catching on that we're describing District Winery yet? District Winery is one of our favorite venues, largely because it has such a powerful atmosphere that is flatters a remarkably wide variety of wedding styles.
Our bride, Christine, made the excellent choice of pairing the winery's decor with loads of greenery and delicate white blooms. Christine and Brad got married on a beautiful, breezy day at the end of March, and their wedding felt like magic.
Our staff spent hours on ladders with hands over our heads affixing dramatic smilax vine to the slatted ceilings. Good thing (some) of us aren't afraid of heights!
Most of the florals in this wedding were white, and we loved that Christine wanted to take a chance on some muted coral pink Romantic Antike garden roses for their ceremony arch.
We repurposed their arch to make a perfect frame for their sweetheart table. With the taper candles, bridal bouquet, cut greens and blooms sitting in front of them on the table, Christine and Brad looked simply ethereal.
For centerpieces, we did cut ruscus and smilax down the tables with a blend of votives and bud vases. We used some astilbe foliage in the bud vases, which was a nice contrast against the greenery on the tables.
